I reimagined modern currency through a symbolic and illustrative lens, designing a conceptual bill series based on the theme of the Seven Deadly Sins. The result is an illustrated, thematically cohesive set of currency that explores mythology, morality, and visual storytelling.

Most currency focuses on function and security, leaving little room for expressive or thematic design. This project was an opportunity to approach currency as a storytelling medium balancing structure with visual meaning.

I studied the historical and cultural symbolism behind the Seven Deadly Sins, focusing on how they’ve been represented in religious and allegorical art. I also looked into Art Nouveau for its strong illustrative style and decorative structure, which helped shape the visual direction of the series.

Each bill features a stylized illustration representing one of the sins, Pride, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, and Sloth, using a consistent Art Nouveau style. The reverse side of each bill includes an animal symbol traditionally associated with each sin, such as a goat for Lust. The final result is a unified set of concept currency that blends symbolic meaning with clear visual structure.
